MME 2022 – nearly 98,000 patrons welcomed!

The inaugural Malaysia Motor Expo (MME) 2022 proved to be an overwhelming success ending its third and final day at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) with nearly 50,000 patrons thronging through Halls 2, 3 and 4.

During the three-day event, from Nov 11 to 13 (10am to 10pm daily), MME 2022 was organised as an automotive ‘sales carnival’ weekend that attracted more than 95,000 patrons to the benefit of nine participating brands namely Ford, Great Wall Motors (GWM), Hyundai, KIA, Perodua, Peugeot, Subaru and Volvo.

The first day saw 9,587 patrons visiting the show while the second and third days saw 40,385 and 47,901 patrons, respectively to record 97,873 patrons in total.

While major car brands conducted their individual branding exercises, Edaran Otomobil Nasional (Eon) Bhd capitalised on the show’s crowd.

Eon managed to collect 220 leads and secured 26 bookings across its affiliated brands including Isuzu, Mitsubishi, Proton and Volkswagen.

Adding glamour to the show was GWM and the opening of its order book for its all-electric Ora Good Cat in advance of the car’s official launch later this month. The GWM booth was easily the most popular during the show and buzzing with activity throughout each of the three days.

The second day saw the event opening the doors to Hall 2 during MME 2022 for the International Automodified (IAM) 2022 show to commence.

Held in conjunction with MME 2022, IAM 2022 saw the crowning of its pioneering winners with Benedict Lai picking up the hotly contested title: King of IAM 2022 while Asia Kiara Putri placed first to clinch the title of Miss Hot Import Nights (HIN) Kuala Lumpur 2022.

Lai received several awards including Best Nissan, Best Coupe, The Sixshooter and The Carbonetic to earn himself the hotly contested overall title for his carbon fibre-clad 1,000hp Nissan S15 (2003).

During IAM 2022 (from Nov 12-13), the show proved to be a popular attraction with patrons of all ages eager to take in the sights and sounds accorded by the exquisite display of over 100 modified vehicles.

Along with excellent deals for automotive-related accessories, it was the lovely lasses of the HIN GF Parade which added a touch of ‘sweetness’ during the show. Meanwhile, a Live DJ session provided patrons with some proper bass-pounding entertainment.

During IAM 2022, there were other mini-events which ran concurrently, such as the Hot Import Nights (HIN) Sound&Style show, live-on-stage DJ Hunt performances, R/C exhibition, Miss Malaysia Motor Expo photo hunt and test drive sessions.

The IAM 2022 show is not just a venue for showcasing and judging modified cars, rather, the event endeavours to become a platform where Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) can engage among themselves and vehicle owners to help bring about better products and services while showcasing their latest offerings.

While early-bird tickets were available on Shopee at RM10 for the first 1,000 purchasers, tickets were also available for on-ground purchases during the event at RM20 per adult. Children of ages 12 and under enter free but had to be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times.

Over the event’s three days, 45 lucky MME patrons each won a fuel voucher worth RM100 from Petron by taking part in a simple questionnaire.

The RM100 fuel voucher will be credited to each of the winner’s new/existing Petron Value Card app which can be downloaded for free via Apple’s App Store and Google’s Play Store.

Winners are advised to email their particulars in by Nov 18, 2022, to receive their fuel voucher and must include the following details:

1) Full name as per IC / passport

Following the end of the inaugural MME, efforts have now been directed towards bringing future enhancements to the event, one of which includes the highly coveted Car of The Year award to be presented in the fourth quarter of 2023.

About MME

The organisers of MME began their activities more than 11 years ago and the event was first branded as the NST CARnival.

The show’s activities were suspended for more than two years, due to the Covid-19 global pandemic, and along with its resumption, the organisers were able to secure an exclusive endorsement from Malaysia Automotive Robotics and Internet of Things (MARii) – an automotive-focussed agency under the Ministry of International Trade and Industry.

Doing so helped to bring about the inaugural MME which was exclusively sponsored by Grantt Lubricants as the Official Lubricant Partner, Petron as the Official Fuel Partner and Shopee as the Official e-Commerce Partner.
