Following the preview of Great Wall Motors’ Ora Good Cat (Ora Haomao) electric vehicle (EV) during the inaugural Malaysia Motor Expo held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre earlier in November, its official launch sees the China-based automaker providing two variants for choice.
Pricing for the Good Cat starts with the 400 Pro at RM139,800 while the range-topping 500 Ultra with a larger battery costs RM169,800. Both variants are accompanied by a five-year or 150,000km warranty, an eight-year or 180,000km battery warranty, five free-labour service maintenance and a complimentary portable home charger.
New 400 Pro owners will have three colour options of Coral Blue, Hamilton White and Sun Black as well as Mars Red and Hamilton White colour combination with a contrasting black roof for choice.
The colour combinations of Verdant Green with White roof and Hazel Wood Beige with Brown roof have been reserved for the 500 Ultra.

Standard across the Good Cat’s two variants is an electric motor that will produce 143PS and 210Nm of immediate torque for the front wheels to ‘pounce’ from 0 to 100kph in 7.9 seconds before reaching a top speed of 152kph.
The battery used in the 400 Pro is a 47.8kWh lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) which is said to provide up to 400km worth of range based on the New European Driving Cycle. The Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedure, or WLTP, provides a more conservative reading that’s about 20% to 30% lower than other tests.
The 400 Pro’s battery is said to take about eight hours to fully charge via a 6.6kW AC outlet with a Type 2 connection while utilising a DC Fast charger will get the battery from 30% to 80% charged in 46mins.

Charging the Good Cat 500 Ultra’s larger 63.1kWh ternary lithium battery that can provide up to 500km of range (NEDC) is said to take about 10 hours to be fully charged from an AC outlet while a 60kW DC fast charger will take about 40 minutes to get it from 30% to 80% of charge.
Standard kit for the two variants includes LEDs for the automatic headlights, rear fogs and rear light clusters as well as powered exterior mirrors, automatic wipers, a panoramic sunroof, an active front grille intake and 18-inch alloys wheels with 215/50 series tyres (with tyre repair kit).
Inside, the cabin sports synthetic leather used for the dashboard and seat upholstery while the four-way power adjustability is provided for the driver (a massage function is included in the 500 Ultra).

A large 10.25-inch infotainment system with touch function with Bluetooth connectivity, Apple Carplay and Android Auto while a smaller 7.0-inch multi-information display is reserved for the driver.
Other notable mentions for the interior include a multi-function steering wheel (without telescopic adjustability), four USB ports and a single 12V power outlet.
Advanced driver assist systems have found their way into the Good Cat including adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking system, forward collision warning, low-speed emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keep assist and lane centring assist.
Opting for the 500 Ultra will add on Wisdom Dodge system, emergency lane keeping, lane change assist and blind spot detection, rear collision warning, rear cross-traffic alert and rear crioss-traffic braking.
