Gymkhana 2022 shows a pure tyre-shredder of a once beat-up Subaru, born in 1983

Using a 1983 Subaru US Ski Team GL as a base, Subaru of America, Inc. launched the second Travis Pastrana Gymkhana video – Vacation Shred.

Here, Travis helms what was once an old beat-up Subaru wagon that’s been transformed into an 862hp monstrosity that’s been dubbed – the Subaru Family Huckster.

This is the second Gymkhana video created by Subaru in partnership with Hoonigan and Subaru Motorsports USA rally and rallycross star Travis Pastrana.

Set in South Florida, Gymkhana 2022 takes the series in a high-flying new direction with the Subaru Family Huckster Wagon that bares the US Skid Team graphics.

Designed by Subaru Motorsports and Vermont SportsCar, the Huckster Wagon was created with a few full-time, full-send features including active aero, an all-wheel-drive sequential transmission, rear-mounted radiators and an EJ-based 2.3-litre billet Subaru Boxer four-cylinder engine based on the Subaru Motorsports RallyCross engine and ready for over 8,000rpm of pure punishment.

Clad almost entirely of carbon fibre, the Huckster Wagon – although endowed with modern fixtures and fittings, includes many elements commonly found in the 1980s including roof racks, rear window louvres and a cassette player for that mix tape.

Fully decked out to top out at 265kph, the Huckster Wagon has been designed to skid, fly, jump, slide, skim and race a flying jet, this is one insane Subaru Wagon ever created.

“Making this Gymkhana video was even more fun than the last one, except for the part where I broke my pelvis base jumping! That delayed the shoot while I healed up but it was worth it,” said Pastrana.

Pastrana added the Subaru wagon was the most fun car he ever drove and in doing so (while trying his level best to literally break it) has become firmly addicted to it.
