Mercedes-Benz EQE 350+ launched at RM420k

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) has introduced its second model series that uses the brand’s all-electric modular architecture – the EQE 350+ business sedan.

Similar to the EQS 450+, only slightly more compact in comparison, the EQE 350+ marks the last electric vehicle (EV) to be launched by the German luxury carmaker here in Malaysia. More has been promised in 2023.

The EQE 350+, in CBU form, has been priced at RM419,888 (on-the-road without insurance, with 10% sales tax) and rolls in with a four-year unlimited mileage warranty and a 10-year or 250,000km (whichever comes first) warranty for the battery.

The EQE 350+ now joins the EQ lineup which consists of the EQA, EQB, EQC and EQS to provide MBM’s CEO and president Sagree Sardien with bragging rights of having the most comprehensive EV portfolio in the country.

Sardien added the company is currently pursuing the goal of building the most sustainable and technically advanced cars for the international stage by driving change towards responsible innovation.

Powering up the all-electric EQE 350+ is a 90.56kWh high-voltage battery which sends the ‘juice” to a sole electric motor that provides 292hp and 565Nm of torque for the front wheels.

This gives the 2,355kg (kerb) EQE 350+ the ability to sprint from 0 to 100kph in 6.4 seconds before reaching a top speed of 210kph.

On a full charge, this all-electric executive sedan is able to travel between 587km and 669km as measured by the Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedure (WLTP).

In 2017, WLTP replaced the older New European Driving Cycle (NEDC) which has been around since the 1980s.

With an 11kW AC station, the battery of the EQE 350+ can be charged from 10% to 100% in eight hours and 15 minutes while a 170kW DC charging station can “fill” the battery from 10% to 80% within 32 minutes.

New owners will be provided with a complimentary 5.0m charging cable.

Compared with the EQS, the EQE has a 3,120mm (-90mm) wheelbase and measures in at 4,946mm-long (-180mm), 1,961mm-wide and 1,512mm-tall.

Standard exterior fixtures and fittings include the AMG Line trim which includes 19-inch twin five-spoke alloys wrapped by 255/45 series tyres, automatic Digital Light LED headlights with Adaptive Highbeam Assist Plus and the AMG Line exterior body kit.

The AMG Line kit also extends into the cabin by having the seats (with heating and four-way powered adjustability) upholstered with Artico and Microcut man-made fabrics in a Black and Space Grey colour combination.

Additionally, there’s also a flat-bottom multifunction sports steering wheel wrapped with supple Nappa leather and a pair of partially-hidden paddle shifters that bear a satin finish.

Unfortunately, the EQE 350+ won’t be imbued with the Hyperscreen infotainment system since it hasn’t been made available for Malaysia.

However, it comes included with an OLED touchscreen infotainment system with a heads-up display, navigation with live traffic information and the MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) augmented reality for the Burmester 3D-surround sound system.

For added convenience, wireless charging as well as Apple Carplay and Android Auto connectivity has been included.

Safety levels for the EQE 350+ have been enhanced with advanced driver assist systems (ADAS).

Here, the ADAS has been supplemented with the Driver Assistance Plus Package which includes Active Distance Assist, Active Stop-and-Go Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist, Active Steering Assist, evasive manoeuvre support, Pre-Safe Impulse and Urban Guard.

There’s also the Parking Package which provides a 360-degree camera system and Active Parking Assist while the Mirror Package consists of automatic-dimming mirrors and logo projectors.

Other notable safety features include a tyre-pressure monitoring system, Tirefit, Pre-Safe system and the Mercedes-Benz emergency call system.

“The EQE is the next all-purpose electric luxury sedan with the typical One-Bow-Signature Design,” said MBM sales and marketing vice president Michael Jopp.

Adding to the EQE’s design, Jop said it gives the car a very aerodynamic and futuristic look which is definitive of the brand’s EQ range.
