Great Wall Motor (GWM) Malaysia has delivered the first batch of its Ora Good Cat electric vehicles (EVs) to customers.
The first batch of the Good Cat was received by owners who pre-ordered the EV prior to the official launch on Nov 28 and were surprised by a personal door-to-door delivery from GWM – just in time for the holidays.
“We hope that our customers enjoyed our surprise delivery as a giant ‘holiday gift’ to their doorstep! GWM is truly grateful for our customer’s trust and support, and this signifies the first milestone of GWM in bringing in new energy, new intelligence and new experience to Malaysian consumers,” said the company’s managing director Mike Cui.

As part of the festive season, the car was dressed up in a giant transparent ‘gift box’ that made its way around Klang Valley as part of the company’s marketing campaign.

At launch, the Ora Good Cat was made available in two variants starting with the 400 Pro and the 500 Ultra.
The 500 Ultra proved to be the more popular variant with the first batch of customers thanks to its 500km range as well as its kit which includes a powered driver’s seat with massage function and an intelligent driving assist mode, among others.
The company now looks to roll out nine models in the next three years and will begin local assembly (CKD
operations) of its vehicles in 2023.
Meanwhile, the company added its car dealer – Superhub, recently opened its first sales showroom in Puchong in addition to its current 4S (Sales, Service, Spare parts and Spray-paint) facility located in USJ which is expected to begin operations in February,
2023.

With more authorised service partners across the nation, covering Penang, Kuala Lumpur, and Johor Baru, GWM intends to establish 15 stores consisting mainly 3S (Sales, Service and Spare parts) centres that would provide some 70% coverage of the country by the end of 2023.
Additionally, GWM’s spare parts warehouse in Shah Alam has also begun operations and is working to ensure an uninterrupted supply chain and inventory.
Furthermore, the company is currently working to help strengthen Malaysia’s EV infrastructure with further details to be announced sometime in 2023.

Following the first batch of deliveries, GWM said it is now endeavouring to make good on deliveries to new owners before the Chinese New Year holidays.
“We aim to deliver more ORA GOOD CAT electric vehicles in the coming weeks ahead of Chinese New Year and hope that our customers get to drive their brand new car around while visiting their friends and family during the New Year,” added Cui.
Those looking to test drive an Ora Good Cat may visit GWM’s authorised dealers in Glenmarie, Puchong and Penang.
