All-electric BMW iX xDrive50 Sport added to lineup at RM546,800

BMW Malaysia has added a new iX to the list that will now sit at the top of the line-up with the introduction of the iX xDrive50 Sport with more range, more kit, more power and more….costlier.

From RM546,800 (on-the-road without insurance) the new iX is newly equipped with 22-inch BMW Individual 1021 multi-colour wheels with a 3D polished look which partially obscures the Blue 17-inch brake callipers.

From now on, Smartphone integration1 (featuring Apple CarPlay and Android Auto), along with the Connected Package Professional will now come as standard for all BMW models to further increase connectivity between users and their vehicles.

This will enable convenient access to familiar functions and applications in all BMW models via wireless integration of both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto while paired to the BMW Operating System 7/8.

However, exclusive to models with BMW iDrive 8, Apple Maps will be adapted into the Instrument Cluster and Heads Up Display.

Remote Services1 will enable owners to remotely control the car by locking their doors, activating the headlight flash or horn and starting the ventilation system using the My BMW App.

Owners will also enjoy a Last State Call (LSC) which provides relevant information about the status of the car, such as fuel level, mileage, doors and windows status, Check Control Messages and pending services among others.

As standard, the iX comes replete with BMW Iconic Sounds Electric together with the exterior mirror package, Interior Design Atelier, highly durable Sensatec leatherette, BMW Live Cockpit Professional, curved 12.3-inch instrument display and 14.9-inch central display for the all-electric SAV.

Also included are the Intelligent Emergency Call, Teleservices, ConnectedDrive Services, Connected Package Professional, BMW Natural Interaction and Active Protection via the high-resolution BMW Live Cockpit Professional.

For comfort and convenience, there is the multifunctional seats for the driver, storage for wireless charging and quad-zone automatic climate controls while the Harman Kardon surround-sound system takes care of sound reproduction.

Meanwhile, the inclusion of a Flexible Charger Cable Mode 2 and Fast Charging Cable Mode 3 allows the iX to get charged up from 0 to 80% in 35 minutes with a DC Fast Charger or 10 hours and 45 minutes with an 11kW AC Wallbox Charger.

From now on, owners will also enjoy three-year access to BMW Maps Connected Charging2 and Connected Navigation2.

This will allow owners to stay mobile with a BMW EV (at home, on the road or at a public charging station).

In addition to providing information to owners via the My BMW App, the Charging Management feature also showcases past and ongoing charging sessions enabling owners to remotely control and check ongoing or upcoming charging sessions.

The app will also notify users should there be any specific charging events.

The cloud-based navigation system in BMW Maps will come with a more intuitive address input and a rich experience in the Point of Interest segment.

Owners will also be able to send their destinations from the My BMW App to their vehicles through the Send-to-Car feature.

The Last Mile feature will assist in navigating towards their destination in the event that parking is not available nearby and they are forced to go on foot.

The iX is powered by an electric motor providing 523hp and 765Nm of torque via a 111.5kWh battery, allowing the SAV to accelerate from 0 to 100kph in 4.6 seconds, an electronically limited top speed of 200kph and range of up to 630km (WLTP) per charge.

New owners will be able to enjoy access to over 610 charging facilities nationwide, powered by major local EV charging providers who are in partnership with BMW Group Malaysia.

For added assistance, the iX features the Driving Assistant Professional, Parking Assistant and new cruise control with braking function.

Colour options include Mineral White, Alpine White Metallic, Black Sapphire Metallic, Sophisto Grey Metallic with Brilliant
Effect, Phytonic Blue Metallic, and Blue Ridge Mountain Metallic.

For an additional charge of RM6,200, budding owners get two more colour options of Individual Storm Bay Metallic and Aventurine Red Metallic.

Inside, owners can choose the cabin to be dressed up by Interior Design Atelier in Mocha or Black, or opt for the Interior Design Suite in Amido or Castanea for an additional RM17,300.

“We are thrilled to ring in the new year with the New BMW iX xDrive50 Sport, an electrifying feat reminiscent of January
2022 when we also introduced new BMW i models at NEXTGen Malaysia,” said BMW Group Malaysia managing director Hans de Visser.

Visser added the company endeavours to help the electric vehicle ecosystem thrive through the expansion of its electrified vehicle offerings and also to the infrastructure.

“Our efforts to electrify the automotive landscape in Malaysia has always worked in tandem with the government’s agenda for
electrification and we are set to see further developments in this aspect with our many new industry partners as well,” he concluded.
