BMW Malaysia updates 3 Series (G20) from RM290k


BMW Malaysia today introduced three updated variants of its 3 Series consisting of the 320i M Sport, 330i M Sport and 330e M Sport.

The updated G20 3 Series is priced on-the-road without insurance at RM283,800, RM298,800 and RM317,800 respectively and is accompanied by a five-year unlimited mileage warranty with BMW Free Scheduled Service Programme, Roadside Assistance and Accident Hotline, access to BMW Group Loyalty+ Mobile App – BMW Privileges Card and BMW Service Online.

The three locally assembled (CKD) 3 Series variants now possess a completely redesigned and modernised interior which includes the BMW Curved Display for the first time as well as a new front section and an updated rear.

At the front, the familiar kidney grille takes on a modified outline while being flanked by redesigned LED headlights now with an inverted ‘L’ for its daytime running lights.

The M Sport package is now provided as standard for all three variants and includes the lateral Air Curtains that flank the central air intake which houses a honeycomb pattern,

Also included in the package are M badges, 18-inch double-spoke lightweight alloys wheels in style 848 M bicolour wearing staggered tyres and M Sport Suspension – only the 330e M Sport will arrive with an Adaptive M Suspension system, M Aerodynamics package and M High-gloss Shadowline.

The rear of the New BMW 3 Series is defined by two distinctive tailpipes which have been increased to 100mm in diameter and is accompanied by a strongly contoured diffuser.

Inside, the cabin now features a BMW Curved Display which combines a 12.3-inch Information Display and a 14.9-inch touchscreen of the Control Display as well as a larger and wider trim strip on the front passenger side and minimalised classic gear selector.

Paddle-shifters have also been included as standard as have the M-elements which now furnish the interior including M entry sills with a stainless-steel look, M driver’s footrest and M pedals with a stainless-steel look, sport seats for driver and front passenger, hand-stitched M leather steering wheel in Walknappa leather, vehicle key with exclusive M designation, M Anthracite headliner, instrument cluster with M specific display and M Aluminium Rhombicle Anthracite interior trim.

Upholstery is offered in the standard Vernasca leather Black, while the 330i and 330e will also be offered an additional Mocha variant.

Under the hood resides the same turbocharged 2.0-litre B48 engine – managed by a familiar eight-speed Steptronic Sport transmission, while outputting 184hp and 300Nm of torque. This allows the 320i to sprint from 0 to 100kph in 7.4 seconds before reaching an electronically-limited top speed of 235kph.

The same engine, displacement and transmission also reside under the 330i’s hood and still provides 258hp and 400 Nm of torque which allows it to get from 0 to 100kph in 5.8 seconds while its top speed has been similarly capped at 250kph.

The plug-in hybrid powertrain of the 330e provides a maximum combined output of 252hp (292hp with XtraBoost function) and 420Nm of torque – – allowing for a century sprint time of 5.8 seconds and a top speed of 230kph (electric top speed is capped at 140kph). The electric motor also remains unchanged with 109hp and 265Nm of torque in all-electric mode.

Standard equipment for the New BMW 3 Series includes the BMW Live Cockpit Professional, powered by the latest version of the BMW Operating System 8.

A suite of features allows for multiple intuitive ways to interact with the vehicle and control its functions: natural language via the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant, touchscreen operation using the Control Display, the BMW Drive Controller and the touch-only direct access controls. As part of BMW Live Cockpit Professional, the BMW Head-Up Display is also included.

Other standard digital features of the New BMW 3 Series are Comfort Access, Remote Software Update and BMW ID.

The Connected Package Professional, which includes digital services such as Remote Services, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto will also be seen in the New BMW 3 Series – an offering that is now standard equipment in all BMW models from 2023 onwards. With the My BMW App, drivers can also access a suite of support functions that make for a new mobility experience.

Also, the Driving Assistant that comes standard with the New BMW 3 Series includes features such as Lane Departure Warning with active steering interventions, Lane Change Warning, Front Collision Warning with brake intervention, Rear Crossing Traffic Warning, Rear Collision Warning, Speed Limit Info and manual Speed Limit Assist.

Additionally, the Parking Assistant features Park Assist, Active Park Distance Control (PDC), Lateral Parking Aid and Reversing
Assist Camera.

The Reversing Assistant keeps a record of up to the last 50m driven forward and is able to drive back the exact same way in reverse if desired.
