The European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP) recently revealed this year’s ‘Best in Class’ list for vehicles that came out on top against its competitors.
Among the list of vehicles are six electric vehicles, namely the Tesla Model S, Tesla Model Y, Hyundai Ioniq 6, Wey Coffee 01 and Great Wall Motors’ Ora Funky Cat (Ora Good Cat as we know it in Malaysia).
The Euro NCAP is a voluntary car safety performance assessment programme based in Leuven, Belgium.
With all vehicles receiving the highly acclaimed five-star rating, the assessment falls into four general categories of Adult Occupant, Child Occupant, Pedestrian and Safety Assist.
The Ora Funky Cat (Europen nomenclature) took the top spot for the Small Family Car category after scoring 92% for Adult Occupant, while its Child Occupant safety score stood at 83%, Pedestrian safety at 74% and Safety Assist systems at 93%.
Meanwhile, the Tesla Model S took the top spot for both the Executive and Pure EV categories while the Large Family Car category went to the Hyundai Ioniq 6.

The Tesla Model Y clinched the title for Small Off-Road category and the title for Large Off-Road category went to the Wey Coffee 01.
Wey is Great Wall Motors’ luxury vehicle division where the China-based carmaker associates its vehicles with the numerous different types of coffee-based beverages for the naming of its nomenclature.
In Malaysia, the Ora Good Cat is available in two variants namely the 400 Pro and the range-topping 500 Ultra priced at RM139,800 and RM169,800, respectively.
Both variants are accompanied by a five-year or 150,000km warranty, an eight-year or 180,000km battery warranty, five free-labour service maintenance and a complementary portable home charger.
Colour options include Coral Blue, Hamilton White and Sun Black as well as Mars Red and Hamilton White colour combination with a contrasting black roof for the 400 Pro while Verdant Green with White roof and Hazel Wood Beige with Brown roof have been reserved for the 500 Ultra.
