Dinamikjaya Motors Sdn Bhd, the sole distributor of KIA vehicles in Malaysia, has opened its order books for its latest flagship Sorento sports utility vehicle (SUV).
Estimated to cost from RM220,000 to RM250,000, the fourth-generation Sorento in CKD form is being assembled at the Inokom Assembly plant located in Kulim, Kedah and three variants will be made available in three variants – two six-seaters and a sole seven-seater.
On arrival, this SUV will be powered by a petrol and diesel engine starting with a 2.5-litre (2,497cc) Smartstream petrol engine as standard producing 177hp at 6,000rpm and 232Nm of torque at 4,000rpm. Power gets sent to the front wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission – allowing it to reach a top speed of 195kph.

Although the six-seater variant in a 2-2-2 configuration shares the same powertrain and top speed performance as the seven-seater. Power can also be sent to an all-wheel-drive system too.
The 2.2-litre (2,151cc) Smartstream 2.2D turbo-diesel engine option is also available for the six-seater variant and the engine is able to output 199hp at 3,800rpm and 440Nm of torque from 1,750 to 2,750rpm. All that gets managed by an eight-speed ‘wet’ dual-clutch transmission which allows it to cruise at a top speed of 205kph.
In terms of dimensions, the Sorento measures 4,810mm-long, 1,900mm-wide and 1,695mm-tall – (1,700mm-tall – diesel variant) all while having a 2,815mm wheelbase and a ground clearance of 176mm.

Externally, the Sorento is touted to possess greater refinement that’s defined through sharper lines and uninterrupted surfaces and being more sculpted than before.
The front end still maintains its iconic tiger-nose grille which is now a little wider than before through the integration of the headlamps which now come with ‘tiger eyeline’ LED daytime runners located below.

Inside, the cabin is said to possess greater sophistication through the inclusion of metallic trims, leather upholstery and embossed wood-effect surfaces – all accompanied by an integration of technologies to enhance connectivity, driver assistance and entertainment.
The centre of the dashboard features a 10.25-inch infotainment system, which powers up the Bose Surround Sound system, and reaches towards the all-digital 12.3-inch driver instrument cluster.

For connectivity, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. are available for smartphone integration which can be charged wirelessly at the base of the dashboard.
For Safety, the Sorento comes with six airbags, antilock-braking system, electronic brake-force distribution, brake assist, dynamic stability control, traction control, multi-collision brake control, hill-start assist and Isofix child restraint anchor points and top tethers.
