Nissan Leaf updated in looks and pricing, now RM168,888

Edaran Tan Chong Motor (ETCM), the sales and marketing arm of Nissan vehicles in Malaysia, has announced the arrival of the facelifted all-electric Leaf.

This world’s first fully-electric vehicle (EV) entered the Malaysian market in 2010 and was followed by the second generation in 2019.

Today, the second-generation Leaf has been facelifted with new features along with a revision to its price which has been tagged at a more affordable RM168,888 (on-the-road) compared to its launch price at RM188,888 in 2019.

This includes tax exemptions and free road tax but excludes insurance while being accompanied by a three-year or 100,000km warranty as well as an eight-year or 160,000km warranty for the 40kWh lithium-ion battery.

According to the company, new owners of the Leaf will incur a mere cost of just RM300 per annum to service every 20,000km.

Furthermore, a subscription plan for the Leaf is available to provide budding subscribers with a worry-free ownership experience with just RM1,800 monthly payments over a three-year plan and will require no downpayment.

Additionally, the plan allows its subscribers to upgrade to other models at the end of their plan should they wish or opt to terminate after three years. All a customer needs to do is return the Leaf and decide.

For those who have opted to purchase the Leaf outright, a special reward awaits and for a limited time. Here, customers will receive a complimentary 12-month Jom Charge membership worth RM600 and Ice Cool tint worth RM2,200. Leaf subscribers will receive a 50% discount on the value of the membership and tint should they feel inclined.

New to the Leaf is the inclusion of added safety features such as Intelligent Lane Intervention and Intelligent Lane Departure Warning as well as High Bean Assist and Intelligent Rear View Mirror.

The cabin has also received some changes consisting of a new identity badge situated on the steering wheel, an upgraded and up-sized 8.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarpLay and Android Auto, Bluetooth Connectivity and Voice Recognition.

Changes made to the Leaf include a new Full-black Aero Front Grille that now features the brand’s new logo along with the internals of the LED headlights with integrated LED daytime running lights receiving a blacked-out effect before getting a newly designed front bumper.

The rear now sports a newly designed Aero Spoiler while its rear bumper diffuser gets a grey accent while rolling on redesigned 17-inch wheels – gone are its predecessor’s Turbine wheels.

While maintaining its ‘floating roof’ look in Super Black, seven colour options are offered namely Stealth Grey, Opera Mauve, Akatsuki Sunrise Copper, Burgundy, Vivid Blue, Pure White Pearl and Midnight Black. The cabin’s leather upholstery can be had in either Graphite Black or Stone Grey.
