Ahead of its arrival in Malaysia, BMW Malaysia has pulled the covers off its first-ever BMW XM – the first BMW M GmbH high-performance SAV with electrified drive.
Priced on-the-road without insurance at RM1,398,800, this SAV comes with a five-year warranty and service package.
With the Straight Line Financing Plan from BMW Group Financial Services Malaysia, the XM can be had with a monthly instalment plan starting from RM16,698 (based on estimates of an 80% loan on a seven-year tenure).
Exterior colour options include Cape York Green, Carbon Black, Marina Bay Blue, Toronto Red, Mineral White, Black Sapphire and Dravit Grey while the interior is offered in Leather Merino Deep Lagoon with exclusive contents, Leather Merino Silverstone with exclusive contents, Leather Merino Black and Leather Merino Sakhir Orange.
Scheduled to officially enter Malaysia in June, the XM features the German brand’s seamless BMW M Hybrid drive system, coupled with a model-specific M suspension system.
Series production for the XM began in Dec 2022 at the US BMW Group Spartanburg plant.
Powered by a 4.4-litre (4,395cc) V8 twin-turbo engine (S68) – producing 489hp from 5,400 to 7,200rpm and 650Nm of torque from 1,600 to 5,000rpm, is managed by an eight-speed automatic M Steptronic transmission.
The electric motor – powered by a 25.7kW lithium-ion battery, provides 197hp and 1,600Nm of instant power.
In electric vehicle (EV) mode, the XM is able to able to travel up to 88km (WLTP) and achieve a top speed of 140kph – all while the BMW Iconic Sounds Electric emanates your choice of audio propulsion.
Together, the engine and electric motor output 653hp and 800Nm allowing it to sprint from 0 to 100kph in 4.3 seconds before reaching a top speed of 270kph.
A flexible charger (Mode 2) and a Public Charging cable (Mode 3) are provided.
The proverbial “twist” is sent to an all-wheel-drive system equipped with an M Sport differential.
While looking very much like an X5, XM weighs in at 2,710kg (kerb) and has a wheelbase that stretches 3,105mm while its body measures 5,110mm-long, 2,235-wide and 1,755mm-tall.
The XM rolls on 23-inch M Light-alloy wheels in star spoke style 923 M Bicolour accent and are shod by front 275/35 and rear 315/30 series tyres.

The wheels partially obscure the M Sport brakes with high-gloss black brake callipers and the adaptive M Suspension Professional.
Externally, it comes equipped with an M Aerodynamics package, M High-gloss Shadowling with extended contents and a unique BMW Kidney Grille with an ‘Iconic Glow’ function for the hallmark M horizontal double louvres.
The XM is also equipped with BMW’s adaptive LED headlights, expanded exterior mirror package, tyre pressure monitoring system, tyre repair kit, highbeam assistant, active protection, and acoustic protection for pedestrians.
Following your choice of internal leather colour, the cabin features carbon fibre M Interior trim finishers, an M leather steering wheel, M multifunction seats for the driver and front passenger, M seat belts and a leather-wrapped BMW Individual instrument panel that is the 12.3-inch BMW Live Cockpit Professional instrument display
Other notable mentions include a heads-up display, 14.9-inch touch-sensitive display with gesture control, intelligent personal assistant, quad-zone automatic climate controls, comfort access system, ambient lighting, SoftClose door function, active front seats ventilation with massage function, wireless charging, heated and cooled cupholder, and the Travel & Comfort system.
Entertainment comes from a Bowers & Wilkins Diamond surround sound system with personal eSIM,
remote services and smartphone integration for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
For safety, the XM comes replete with the Driving Assistant Professional, which includes features such as Steering and Lane Control Assistant, Automatic Speed Limit Assist, Lane Change Assistant, Active Cruise Control with Stop&Go function, Lane Departure Warning, Front/Rear Crossing Traffic Warning, Emergency Stop Assistant and Evasion Assistant.
For added convenience, there’s the Parking Assistant Plus which includes Reversing Assist and Lateral Parking Aid, Active Park Distance Control and Surround View system.
Other safety features include the Attentiveness Assistant, Acoustic Protection for Pedestrians and Active Protection.
