Tesla’s all-electric Model Y sports utility vehicle (SUV) is now available for order in Malaysia.
Bookings for this SUV can be done via its website with three mid-sized SUV variants for choice while deliveries have been earmarked to begin in early 2024.
Starting with the entry-level Model Y with a range of up to 455km, the rear-wheel-driven SUV gets priced at RM199,000.

Meanwhile, the mid-range Model Y Long Range with its all-wheel driven (AWD) powertrain provides 533km of range at RM246,000.
Finally, the range-topping Model Y Performance (also with AWD) is said to deliver up to 514km of range and gets tagged at RM288,000.
From now until 2025, electric vehicles (EVs) have been fully exempted from import and excise duties as well as road tax.
Additionally, for the assessment year of 2023, new EV owners may claim an individual income tax relief of up to RM2,500 on EV-related expenses including installation as well as rental and purchase (hire-purchase equipment or subscription fees included) for EV charging facilities.

As standard, the five-seater Model Y – with up to 455km of range, provides owners with the ability to sprint from 0 to 100kph in 6.9s before reaching a top speed of 217kph while rolling on 19 or 20-inch wheels.
The Model Y Long Range will, with its dual-motor AWD system, cut the century sprint time down to 5.0s-flat while the Performance variant, with its 21-inch Uberturbine alloys, can do it in 3.7s before getting limited to a higher top speed of 250kph.
The Performance variant will also include a lowered suspension system, performance brakes, carbon fibre spoiler and performance pedals.

Such items will accompany its list of standard equipment such as an all-glass roof, active safety features, HEPA air filtration system, Bioweapon Defence mode and Autopilot system – an advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) that’s said to help enhance safety and convenience while behind the wheel.
Additionally, the Model Y will provide the convenience of up to 2,100 litres of cargo space and the assurance of a five-star safety rating from the European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP) and US-based National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
