“Beyond the promotion of the automotive industry, MARii’s agenda is very much aligned with Malaysia’s responsibility regarding energy transition and decarbonisation,” said MARii deputy chief executive officer Nizmar Mohd Nazar during the launch of IAM-MIME 2023.

Nizmar added that he was happy that this year’s MIME has focused on the current EV mega-trend by allocating a central location for the display of some of the leading EV brands in the world.

Also present was MIME chairman Sharifah Wani Jamalullail.

The show promises of a curated showcase of vehicles, products, innovations and the latest developments in automotive technology by automotive stakeholders, car/motorcycle dealers and original equipment manufacturers (OEM).

The show’s uniqueness is that it incorporates three automotive genres under one roof starting with the showcasing of new cars, legacy automakers and new marques.

The second element is the dedicated Electric Vehicle (EV) Fest which has a variety of EVs providing up to 400km of range on a single charge while prices range from RM100,000 to RM500,000.

Among the vehicles on display will be the Mercedes-Benz EQB 350 sport utility vehicle (SUV) as well as a wide range of models from Bermaz Auto Bhd’s three brands – Mazda, KIA and Peugeot.

Also on display will be a modified Tesla by Exotic Mods Sdn Bhd – an independent Tesla and European sales, spare parts, service and repair centre.

The show will also include display vehicles from one of the largest private collectors of hypercars and iconic cars in Malaysia – JPM Museo, as well as Utama Motors which is renowned for its supercar collection.

Meanwhile, MIME-founder Yamin Vong said one major attraction of the show would be to provide as many visitors and potential buyers with the experience of test-driving electric vehicles.

The show will also be conducting a digital poll consisting of 10 questions for the “Peoples’ Choice Car of the Year” and will provide participants with a chance to win prizes on an hourly basis.

The “Peoples’ Choice Car of the Year” will be announced at a special Car of the Year Awards to be held on Nov 15.

The third and most vibrant component of the show will be a grand showcase of about 300 customized cars that will form the epicentre of the IAM display that’s grown exponentially to become Southeast Asia’s largest and longest-running modified car show.

“The show has grown by leaps and bounds over the years. There is a huge following and love for modified cars in the region – especially in Malaysia, and this is extremely evident from the high quality of cars on display,” said IAM founder Reza Aliwarga.

“The interest to display cars has been phenomenal and there are almost 1,000 modified cars on the list that we have to vet through before meticulously selecting the final 300 for the show,” explained Reza.

This year’s regional IAM tour kicks off in Singapore from Oct 21 to 22 before stopping in Kuala Lumpur from Oct 27 to 29.

The show will travel back to Jakarta, Indonesia from Dec 2 to 3 and will make a stop in Bangkok, Thailand for the finale from Dec 9 to 10.

The show is also working towards making its debut in the US in the summer of 2024.

The IAMKL-MIME 2023 show will also feature a wide variety of attractions including racing simulators, an RC (remote-controlled) exhibit, gatherings by numerous car clubs, a display of royal exotic cars, a live music festival and lots of prizes and giveaways for the public.
