The All-New Volkswagen Touareg R-Line is now available in the Malaysia market.

 

It’s a locally assembled combustion-engine SUV and the first VW Touareg to be built outside Bratislava, Slovakia.

As a CKD, it’s priced at RM469,999, placing it in the territory of the Volvo XC90, Lexus RX 350, and three of its VW cousins, the Porsche Macan 2.0, Audi Q5 and the electric car, the Audi Q8 e-tron,

It’s a 3.0-litre V6 TSI engine with intelligent 4MOTION all-wheel drive.

The Touareg, now in its third generation, is Volkswagen’s first SUV when it made its global preview in 2002. Over 1.14 million units have been sold worldwide, and till today remains a popular model at the top of Volkswagen’s SUV range.

 

Managing Director of VPCM, Denyu Bostandzhiev said the Touareg was VW’s

first SUV and represents the DNA of Volkswagen’s SUV.

 

“As our top-of-the-range offering, I believe the Touareg will appeal to a group of customers in the premium SUV segment looking for something that extra special. With its list of pioneering tech, the Touareg will set them apart from other SUV drivers.”

 

Balance of efficiency and performance

The output of 340 PS and up to 450 Nm of torque is delivered to all wheels through an 8-speed automatic transmission and intelligent 4MOTION system.

 

The Touareg’s new IQ LIGHT HD MATRIX headlights is said to be one of the best lighting systems in the world. More than 38,000 interactive micro-LEDs illuminate the road more precisely than ever before.

 

 

The Night Vision is a first for Volkswagen in Malaysia.  An infrared sensor in the camera detects thermal signatures from humans or animals up to 130 metres ahead to keep the driver aware of potential collision.
