Lubricant supplier, Shell Malaysia, officially launched its range of carbon-neutral engine oils.
In conjunction with the launch, Shell Helix is also expanding its offerings with the introduction of 5W-40 viscosity grade under its Power variant which is touted by the company to be suitable for a wide range of modern petrol and diesel-powered vehicles.
The newly launched engine oil is now available at participating Shell-branded and independent workshops with a recommended retail price for a four-litre pack in Peninsular Malaysia is RM280 and RM280.80 for East Malaysia.

The new range of engine oils is the world’s first carbon-neutral lubricant formulated from natural gas via the company’s PurePlus gas-to-liquid (GTL) technology.
The launch of the company’s latest range of lubricants is in line with its ambition to become a net-zero emissions energy business by 2050.

“Shell Malaysia is pleased to be able to provide a variety of low-carbon energy solutions to our customers, from electric vehicle charging and biofuels to now carbon neutral lubricants,” said Shell Malaysia chairman Datuk Ivan Tan.
Tan added the company will increasingly utilise more nature-based solutions in conjunction with its existing efforts to reduce the impact of its oil and gas operations by investing in lower-carbon sources of energy.
The company’s global portfolio of nature-based carbon credits will compensate for its carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) emissions from the entire lifecycle of these products, including the raw materials, packaging, production, distribution, customer use and product end-of-life.
