Multimatic, together with Ford Performance – the tuning arm of the brand with the ‘Blue Oval’, has radically transformed the GT (Mk IV) supercar for track-only duties by imbuing it with its own unique twin-turbo EcoBoost engine, racing transmission and suspension, longer wheelbase and aero-tuned carbon fibre body panels to help it stand further apart from its road-going sibling.
“A unique larger displacement engine, proper racing gearbox, stretched wheelbase and truly radical body has resulted in an unprecedented level of performance,” said Multimatic Special Vehicle Operations Group executive vice president Larry Holt.
Speaking on behalf of the company, Holt added it was proud to be part of the third-generation GT from its inception to “this amazing ‘swan song’ and considers this a significant chapter in the company’s history.

The engine itself is touted to provide over 800hp, compared to the 660hp found in the current road-going GT’s 3.5-litre V6 engine.
This track-focused GT variant pays homage to the original Mk IV which won the 24 Hours of Le Mans (1967) and guess what? There will be just 67 examples to be hand-built at Multimatic’s facility in Markham, Ontario (Canada) and will carry a price tag that will climb from US$1.7mil (RM7.51mil) while deliveries will begin sometime in the first quarter.
“The original GT Mk IV held nothing back for max track performance, and the new Ford GT Mk IV brings it in the same way,” said Ford Performance Motorsports global director Mark Rushbrook.
“With an even higher level of motorsport engineering and performance, plus a completely new carbon fibre body that is functional and striking, the Mk IV is the ultimate sendoff for the third-generation supercar.”
